known under the name of leather district and
it is particularly well connected to the major cities
thanks to the near highway FI-PI-LI. San Miniato is
very famous for its white truffle which is the
main attraction of a world famous yearly fair.
San Miniato is on a hill right upon the lower Arno
valley just ½ hour from Florence, Pisa,
1 hour from Lucca and Volterra, and
1 ½ hours from Siena. Local trains every
hour from and to Pisa and Florence are easy to take
at the nearest railway station San Miniato.
