THE PEARL ALONG THE VIA FRANCIGENA PILGRIM ROUTE
San Miniato, the most important town of truffles inTuscany, is also a cradle of beautiful medieval and renaissance art inherited thanks to its strategic central position in Tuscany along the Via Francigena, the most important artery of pilgrimages across Italy during the Middle Ages. Discover the beauty of this lovely town and its importance over the centuries.

The archaeological site of San Ginesio
A recent discovery in the countryside around San Miniato is San Ginesio, a medieval settlement that developed a lot a strategic link between San Miniato and the traffics originated by the pilgrim route Via Francigena, a medieval route that connected Canterbury with Rome and Jerusalem. Today we only have traces of the village that used to be there and our guide will show you the remains while explaining the importance of the pilgrim route.

The imperial town of San Miniato
The tour continues to the hilltop where the sumptuous San Miniato lies. A beautiful town with many charming squares and with an important historical meaning as a link between Pisa and Florence. Our guide will show you the cathedral, the square Napoleone, dedicated to the French emperor, as well as the hilltop fortress that dominates the whole Valdarno.

A memorable half day in the center of Tuscany!
