In
the medieval town of Peccioli there is
a really fascinating, though not well
known, Etruscan museum whose new conception
is to show the findings resulting from
years of excavations at the temple of
Ortaglia, a digging site not far from
the town. The museum shows important aspects
of the Etruscan civilization from the
perspective of the researchers who reconstruct
its features. It is a museum in progress,
given all the findings still to reassemble.
Our guide will describe in detail their
characteristics, illustrating also the
features of the Etruscan civilization.
She will lead you through the very intriguing
exhibition route realized in the old cellars
of a historical estate. The tour continues
with a nice walk in Peccioli, one of the
most picturesque medieval towns in Tuscany,
unique with its panoramas and rural atmosphere.
The walk ends in a historical pastry shop
in the town, where you can taste a grappa
produced with Colombana grapes, a local
vine which is very rare and has been carefully
preserved from extinction by the local
winemakers.

THE GRAPE
HARVEST AND THE TASTING OF THE WINES AT
THE FARM
On Thursday 16th, Monday 20th September
and Monday 4th October 2010
Have you ever
smelled the must?
The grape harvest is a crucial stage in
the wine making process. It is the moment
when the soil and the air finish their
intervention on the grapes and the winemaker
transforms the wonderful bunches of Sangiovese,
Trebbiano, Malvasia and all the other
ones into an exclusive and refined produce.
The must is the result of the pressing
of the grapes at the cellar. Its smell
is one of the most striking aspects of
the grape harvest. With our guide you
can personally experience this atmosphere
spending a morning watching the grapes
being collected and taken to the cellar.
You will see skilled men working at the
vats and you will perceive the typical
smell of the "vendemmia". Lastly
you will access the tasting room and taste
the wines of the farm accompanied by some
little snacks. A multi-sensory experience.

for adults € 20 p.p.
Rate for children € 5 p.c.

THE VICARS AND THE PASTA FACTORY
Tuesday 14th , 21st September and 5th
, 12th and 19th October 2010
The hamlet
of wonders
Lari is an enchanted medieval hamlet full
of hidden treasures. It was founded as
a military outpost and still today the
castle, located right in the middle of
the little village, is in perfect conditions
and has a unique panorama over the lower
Arno valley. The castle has been used
for centuries by Pisa and Florence as
the premises of the vicar's office and
it witnesses over one millennium of local
history. Its dungeons and the solitary
confinement cell, located underground
in the clayey soil, are particularly intriguing.
The castle is just next to a small artisanal
pasta factory producing the best pasta
of Tuscany since 1926. Our guide will
show you the workshop where the worldwide
famous pasta, packaged in yellow with
black italics writing, is produced.
