THE
UNUSUAL TUSCANY

a very original full-day tour
to the natural area of the Alpi
Apuane, a coastal chain of mountains
1 hour north of Livorno.
Here the outline:
- Private transfer by minivan
or minibus from the port
of Livorno. Our English speaking
operator meets you directly
at the ship in the morning
at your convenience and tours
you for the whole day. The tour
leader gives you an interesting
introduction to the region
Tuscany, its uses, facts and
history, while reaching the
place. French, German, Russian,
Spanish and Italian are also
possible.
- Morning breathtaking 2-hour
walk inside the cavern Antro
del Corchia with an expert
local guide. In an incredible
setting at 7,6° C we explore
the most enchanting corners
of the underground world.
It is the longest equipped
track inside a cavern in Italy:
a 2 km route between pieceful
lakes, stalactites woods and
a "petrified forest".
Comfortable shoes and warm
clothes are recommended.
- Lunch is in a typical restaurant,
in a very picturesque village
on the mountains surrounding
the cavern. Drinks and excellent
local wine included.
-Afternoon visit to Pietrasanta,
a historical town, once
a major center along the medieval
pilgrim road via Francigena.
Time for a gelato and some shopping.
The town is famous as one of
the most important marble towns
of Tuscany.
- Return within the early
evening, depending on the
docking time of the cruiseship.
