fascinating and relaxing full-day
tour to one of the most picturesque
and typical small villages near Livorno
and an exclusive wine cellar making
unique wines in the area of the Pisan
Hills.
Here the outline:
- Private transfer by minivan or
minibus from the port of Livorno.
Our English speaking operator meets
you directly at the ship in
the morning at your convenience and
tours you for the whole day. The tour
leader gives you an interesting
introduction to the region Tuscany,
its uses, facts and history, while
reaching the place. French, German,
Russian, Spanish and Italian are also
possible.
- Within
just 30 minutes drive we reach the
entrance of an enchanting medieval
town where we walk through the
narrow lanes leading to the Castle
of the Vicars, in the hilltop.
We walk in a circle along breathtaking
panoramic castle walls before
getting into the old rooms and down
to the underground dungeons, once
called "the Hell".
- Opposite
the castle is a world famous family-run
pasta factory and its odd premises
right in the old town. We visit the
pasta workshop and see how the small
machinery makes Spaghetti, Penne or
Maccheroni.
Before
leaving the town we also taste a locally
produced cherry liquor.

At around noon, we move on to a
very fascinating wine cellar of the
area of the Pisan hills. The company
makes world renowned wines of very
high quality. We meet an experienced
and very informative winemaker
who leads us through the panoramic
terrace just in front of the vineyards
and then down into the underground
cellar, explaining in detail the process
of wine making. After touring the
whole premises we sit in the tasting
room and have a guided wine
tasting with local specialities
like prosciutto, salami, cheese, farro
and focaccia as a whole lunch.
- Return within the early evening,
depending on the docking time of the
cruiseship.
