A
very original trekking route around Colle
Valdelsa with an experienced English speaking
nature guide. A "slow" way to
discover the hidden beauties of the rural
Tuscany.
Half-day guided trekking tour of Colle
Valdelsa and its surroundings
You meet
our experienced English speaking nature
guide in Colle Valdelsa, a town
famous for its crystal manufacture, in
Piazza Arnolfo di Cambio, in front of
the monument dedicated to the sculptor
and architect. Together we comfortably
walk along the riverbed of the Elsa,
enjoying enchanting landscapes among pools
of clear water, populated by a rich fauna,
which reaches even the town. You will
get to know how this river made the
fortune of this area as you admire
the wildlife and the colorful vegetation
surrounding it.
After going up a stretch along the river,
we pass into an open countryside
among charming fields, vineyards and woods.
Finally, we get back to the castle
of Colle Val d'Elsa, walking in front
of medieval and renaissance palaces up
to the tower house of the architect
Arnolfo di Cambio. The town is a jewel
of narrow streets and medieval paths,
almost unknown to mass tourism, where
it is still possible to meet Boreno Cigni,
one of the last engravers of crystal.
The tour ends with a delicious snack
of Tuscan specialities arranged as
a pick-nick by the guide.
