IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT...

Teatro del Silenzio is an open air theater just outsite of Lajatico, a small village of 1,000 inhabitants in the heart of Tuscany, 45 kms from Pisa and 95 kms from Florence.

For the event about 10,000 people get there and the traffic is a major problem for the local authorities. Therefore, on the days of the concert and the rehearsal the village LAJATICO IS CLOSED TO PRIVATE TRAFFIC. Private cars are forced to park in a little town 3 km before Lajatico and the visitors need to queue to take free public shuttle buses to Lajatico. The same experience takes place after the end of the event and queues continue for long time.

Only some licensed cars, vans or buses can get to Lajatico, stopping just before a completely restricted area where only special cars for impaired people or ambulances are allowed.

For all visitors the access to the arena requires a 10 minutes walk down a little hill along a pedestrian pathway.

HOW DO I SKIP THIS?

The easiest and most comfortable way to get to Lajatico without losing time in the traffic jam is by booking seats in our buses leaving from Pisa and Florence. We are a Tour Operator based close to Lajatico and we help you solve any logistic problem to the concert.

Our buses are allowed to reach Lajatico. You will get off directly at the entrance of the pedestrian pathway leading down to Teatro del Silenzio.

Our operators will be at the venue to orientate you on the way from the bus stop to the arena and on the way back to your bus.

HERE IS WHAT WE OFFER:

IS THERE ANY ALTERNATIVE OPTION?

BY TRAIN + BUS + TAXI
In order to get to Lajatico from Pisa or Florence you can take a train to Pontedera, i.e. the closest railway station to Lajatico, just 24 kms away. Pontedera is on the Florence-Pisa line. Here you can check the Italian Railway timetable. From Pontedera you can reach Lajatico by taxi or by bus. Here you can check the Local Bus Company timetable. The bus service stops before 9 pm and the last train service runs at around 1:30 am in Pontedera. Taxis cost around 50 Euro one way from Pontedera railway station to Lajatico.
NOTE: There is a limited number of taxis serving from Lajatico on the way back after the concert. You might need to wait over 1 hour for the first taxis to be back in Lajatico from Pisa.

BY RENTED/OWN CAR
If you drive a car from Pisa take the freeway FI-PI-LI in the direction of Florence. If you drive from Florence take the freeway FI-PI-LI in the direction of Pisa. In any case get to the exit Pontedera. Here follow the signs to Volterra. After about 23 kms you reach the small village La Sterza where the concert organization is arranging a huge parking area. From La Sterza you can take a shuttle service to the theater and back. It is advisable to get to the parking area at least a couple of hours in advance due to highly possible congestion problems on the road to Lajatico.

We are now back in England, and reflecting on the marvellous evening we were experiencing last night. We all thought the 2nd half of the concert was particularly good and spectacular.
We enjoyed our stay again at the hotel/B&B in Palaia. Please thank Massimmo for his kind recommendation of the restaurant in Peccioli (correct?) off the square - we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there, but were sorry to discover that we missed Karine who was eating in there too.... we would like to have met!
Our only sadness was that we did not have such good seats as last year and we are not sure why that was, bearing in mind we did book up around November time (8 months before the event)?
We were right under one of the lighting scaffolds which were completely off centre of the stage which was a big disappointment. I know there is nothing that can be done about it now but we felt we wanted to let you know that we were annoyed about this part of our 'package'.
We were so glad that the weather held for the evening, despite the rain earlier in the afternoon, and it was a great temperature throughout the evening.
Another great experience - we will wait to see if that really is the FINALE?!!

We have just returned from our long weekend to the Andrea Bocelli concert at the Teatro del Silenzio, Lajatico and we must thank you for your wonderful attention to detail that you and your team at Arianna and friends did for us .It was nothing short of perfect!!! The hotel was perfect,the arrival package complete with maps and tour guides was high quality and well presented and the tickets were probably the best we have had over the last 3 visits ,the car hire as expected and every detail went so well for us.
Of course we had our concerns of using the internet but your professionalism was exactly that ...........totally 'Professional' and we again thank you for a wonderful service and especially the patience you and your team provided for our own confusion and short comings on the internet, file downloading etc.

Thank you again for the wonderful concert package you organized for us.

We all, of course, liked the Lajatico concert. It was so beautiful and enjoyable. We liked the whole programme.
I was so happy to hear "Miserere". The piece is one of my favorites after I heard it through internet years ago, Bocelli and Zucchero singing first time together, I guess.The evening was unforgettable, once again. We feeled, anyhow, quite melancholy because it was the last one in Lajatico.
Tuscany is wonderful. We were quite pleased to have our accommodation in Volterra, the beautiful old city in Tuscany. What a city ! The location of the hotel was quite excellent for us.
We also liked the walking tour you organized for us. Thanks to our excellent guide, we really liked her. So much we learned about the Etruskan museum.

Now we are looking for the upcoming concerts of Andrea Bocelli in Europa. We also dream of travelling in the beautiful Tuscany once again.

When we attended the Andrea Bocelli concert, there were a number of small airplanes flying around the area.
My husband has his own plane and flies regularly so this obviously interested him as he would love to fly over the beautiful countryside.
Do you know which airport these planes would have flown from? If you do, please would you let me have their details and if they rent out planes to visiting pilots. Perhaps flying holidays are something you already arrange for people visiting Tuscany?

Dear Karine,

It has been two weeks now since we returned from our lovely holiday in Italy but sadly I had to come home to the funeral of a very dear friend (we started school together aged 3) and whose sudden death I heard of the night before the concert, so please forgive the lateness of this email.

Our stay at Alberto's was so much more than we had expected. After a very long, enjoyable but tiring drive we were welcomed very warmly by the family who helped carry our baggage up several flights of stairs and after sitting in a car for the best part of three days this was quite a shock to the system, especially in the late afternoon heat. Alberto was very helpful, especially his understanding of English. Carla's breakfasts and buffet were plentiful and delicious and sustained us for the rest of the day. How very lucky this family is to live surrounded by such beautiful Tuscan countryside.

We would like to say a big thank you to you, Karine, for arranging this trip for us and we were honestly quite amazed at how smoothly the task of getting thousands of people to and from the Teatro del Silenzio was dealt with by everyone. I wanted to say hello to you in the car park but you were already engrossed in conversation, so hopefully another time. The concert was of course truly spectacular and I and others really hope that in time some other event with Andrea singing there will happen.

We will return to Tuscany and when we do we will be sure to call upon your services again, so in the meantime, very many thanks...

Dear Arianna and Karine,
After all our emails and chats on the telephone it was great to meet up with you both. Thank you so much for helping make our holiday in Tuscany so special by organising hotel arrangements, concert tickets, tour guides and cooking lessons. The hotel in Pisa was ideal, especially the interconnecting family rooms, the price was even cheaper than we would have got going direct to the hotel. The position was perfect too as only a 15 minute walk to the piazza. We arrived before midday and they even let us book in to our rooms and park the cars. Later we tried the restaurant in the hotel - very interesting and delicious menu!
The tickets for the Andrea Bocelli concerts gave us superb viewing for both nights so thanks again.
The Vinci tour was most interesting and we much enjoyed having the lunch at the wine loft, the children loved looking behind the scenes!
We have all come home with lots of wonderful memories including the recipes from our cooking course with Licia - what a lovely lady: so kind, patient and welcoming. It was a great honour to be invited into her home. You will be pleased to hear we have made all the recipes at home - I bought some Alchermes in Lajatico so we can make the salamino pudding authentically!

Hello from your friends in Canada. Thank you so much for such a wonderful adventure while in Tuscany. The primary focus was on seeing Andrea Bocelli which did not disappoint at all. It was fabulous. We expected that. What we did not expect was such a wonderful time when not at the concert.

My wife and I stayed at Alessio's with friends for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in July 2010. Margherita and Giacomo provided the best service a person could ask for at the onsite restaurant (thank you very much for the reservations, service, advice, etc as you helped make this a wonderful stay). The atmosphere more than met my expectations to make me feel what 5 days in Tuscany should be (relaxing, stress less and enjoyable). All the local sites are within an easy drive (Pisa, Livorno, Volterra, and Bologna) with no issues on the roads. Ask for a room overlooking the main entrance / bell tower if they are available. The food was quite good and the cleaning staff looks after you very well. On Saturday night there was a really nice local market brought to the hotel where you can buy / taste local products.

We came to Tuscany to hear the 'Last' performance of Andrea Bocceli and our accommodations were booked by a wonderful agency Arianna & Friends who at the time we did not know and had no idea as to what our hotel in San Gimignano would be like!
From the moment we arrived at the Relais Santa Chiara we were enchanted - by the setting, the service, the room and the tranquility......not to mention the convenient proximity to everything....it could not have been better. As they say "you can't improve upon perfection" We would definitely return to Relais Santa Chiara...truly a gem!

Good Morning All my dear friends at Arianna
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for my wonderful Tuscan experience.
When I arrived in Pisa I was greeted with a big sign from your driver, I was glad I had arranged transport to & from our apartment because the Driver & Car was impeccable, and on time..
My accommodation was exactly what was requested, set in the middle of Tuscany away from the world - a place where I was able to collect my thoughts & chill out.
It was also amazing because I had the pleasure to have met other people in a similar situation as myself - all had there own stories of loss, and it proved to me we were all there for a special reason, we used to sit outside in the evenings some enjoying a glass of vino (very cheap because we stayed on a Vineyard) and we laughed & cried together.
My Fiancée Michael was unable to be there because of his untimely death, but I found the whole experience very healing - I have made new friends not only from Italy but also Holland, Greece & Norway.
But the highlight of the whole week was the Andrea Bocelli Concert - Again with your wonderful help lifts were provided to & from the concert, I had seen Andrea before in London but I must admit seeing him in Lajatico was breathtaking, he surpassed himself the whole thing was wonderfully organised & the line up superb - the only downfall to me was not enough toilets - But you can't have everything.
I am planning on coming back next year to his final concert & I will be using you guys again.
A very special thanks to Massimo - what a lovely man it was great to be given the opportunity to have met him in person.

We thought you could not do anymore, but we were wrong again because there you were to meet and greet us off the mini bus and point us in the right direction and then also to make sure we got back to the mini bus when everything was over. Many thanks for your hard work, friendliness and professionalism you are simply the best people to deal with and we will most certainly be looking to book up again next year. I have already recommended you to some people we met in Terricciola that were not fortunate enough to book things through, and I will continue to recommend you to anyone that will listen to us. On that note please can you keep us informed of next years concert.

Could you please pass on our kindest thanks to Suzzane and Massimo in Terricciola. They were simply so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them, especially Suzzane who seemed never to stop working. Massimo provided us with simply superb meals and the rooms were clean and comfortable, they certainly made us feel like we were at home. We would not hesitate to recomend them to everyone.
We did not a car but found that the bus service to Terricciola was adequate, friendly and easy to use, though it would have been better if they returned a little later at night. We mainly travelled to Pontederra were we tended to get the train to Pisa, Lucca, Firenze and Castelione Del Lago (Lake Trasimeno) in Perugia where we went to see some friends.

So to finish we will say arreverderci and many many thanks.

Hotel Casale le Torri was a fabulous place to stay -- so charming, beautiful & full of character. Thanks for your recommendation. It was very tricky to find even with your directions & GPS! But we found it in the end. It was worth the long drive from Milano & battling the traffic on the motorways (lots of jams on the way down on saturday) to get there.

Let me start by telling you that we appreciate all you did for us and that it will be our pleasure to refer you and your company to people we know.

About the Bocelli Concert: The tickets you got for us were amazing. The seats could not have been better positioned. All of your help with transportation, parking, accessibility, and ease of movement proved to be very valuable.

Hotel La Locanda is a treasure in Volterra. The room was spotless and the breakfast proved to be one of the best we had in Italy. Fresh baked goods and lots of other choices including a nice bowl of fresh seasonal fruit. They even provided 2 luggage stands :)

Hotel Europa in Florence was delightful. No frills, just perfect service and a nice clean comfortable room. The owners were delightful and everything was conveniently located. What a bargain in Florence. They have been there 40 years under the same ownership. They know Florence.

Working with you has proven to be one of the most pleasurable experiences we have had traveling. Having no previous history with your company or with you, we had no idea what to expect. From the first minute we spoke, you built confidence and trust in our decision. You did everything you said you would do and delivered everything on time and on budget. You and your entire group are to be commended for your professionalism.

We will return to Italy again and will not hesitate to call on your expertise. We look forward to the possibility of participating in some of your tours and believe that we will NOT be disappointed.

Thank you for organising everything for our visit to the Andrea Bocelli concert and accommodation. We had a great time and loved the village of Palaia

The hotel was incredible, but there was one problem, our room named (Veranda) was opposite the bar Peggio which was very noisy and and closed at between 1 & 2am. The owner and staff of the bar Peggio were very nice and we enjoyed eating and drinking their, but we did not appreciate the noise every night.

Car Hire at Pissa Airport.
Karine! You advised it would be easy to hire a car at the airport, this was not the situation as it took us almost 2 hours to get a car as all vehicles were pre-booked. I suggest you tell customers to book in advance as all the car hire companies said we should have booked before leaving the U.K.

Tuscany! We will be coming back and will recomend Arianna & Freinds to our freinds.

About Il Poeta. It was not a good decision to go there. It was very far from the concert and it was in a very busy urban location. The noise from the passing traffic was unbearable. We had lunch there on the Friday we arrived, and it was very poor. Not good.
You knew that I wanted a good hotel - since the first one I chose was a 5 star (but was all booked up). I do not think you should have agreed that Poeta was suitable.
I suggest there is some money back from the hotel since we did not stay there at all. Please let me know what you can negotiate.

Could you please thank the owners of La Vallatta. They were fantastic and really made our stay special. They couldn't do enough for us.

Karine, sincere apologies if we woke you up yesterday morning. The lady at La Vallatta gave us a taxi number but they weren't answering. We were starting to get worried about getting back to the airport in time for our flight. So thank you so much for arranging the taxi for us. We really appreciated it.

Very many thanks for your assistance today in returning Howard's passport to him. If Karine had not alerted us by email and voice message, he may not have discovered it until it would have been too late to do anything about it. The taxi driver was very efficient and not very expensive so many thanks to you both. Our flight was on time so we are home after a wonderful weekend.
Thanks again for your organisation; we are delighted to have experienced Tuscany with your help. We would love to come again next year (or before!) and so will contact you to reserve probably all the rooms at La Vallata and some tickets as we have several friends who wish to join us.

Arianna and Everyone!
I just wanted to send an email for you to receive on Monday morning (no doubt in your glorious sunshine whilst we have
yet more rain!) to say how truly fantastic last night's concert was at the Teatro di Silenzo.
Myself and the other 3 (+ 2 extra for the concert) could not have enjoyed ourselves more in every way - the setting, the music, the singing, Bocelli himself (and of course Placido Domingo and Katherine Jenkins and the others too!), the weather, and the whole atmosphere of the evening.........it was something we will all remember forever.
Thank you for your major part in organising everything for us - we very much enjoyed our 'hotel' in Palaia and Violetta was very sweet and helpful.
Do you know if there will be a CD or DVD made and sold after last night? Any merchandise was so difficult to find but on the other hand it was nice that people were not 'out there' to make lots of money out of such a special event.
It was nice to meet you on Thursday in the office, and you were right that Friday was certainly a scorching day!!
We so enjoyed our stay, and would be grateful if you could keep our email address 'on file' and let us know if/when you get your allocation of tickets for the 2010 concert? - we might love to come again!
