FIAT 500 CAR AND OLIVE OIL TOUR, WHAT A DAY!
Live a memorable day in Tuscany by driving the iconic Fiat 500 vintage car and reaching a historical oil mill where to try their delicious olive oils and enjoy a special lunch.
An amazing trip by FIAT 500 car
This exciting itinerary starts in Lucca, where your adventure begins. Here, you will meet a friendly and knowledgeable car rental representative who will introduce you to your vintage FIAT 500 and explain how to use it for the day. Once ready, it's time to hit the road and start driving toward your first destination: Vicopisano, home to the historic olive oil mill included in the tour.
Driving through the Tuscan countryside is part of the experience. Along the way, you will pass small villages, low mountains and rugged countryside, driving on some bending roads. Feel free to stop whenever you like to take photos, enjoy a coffee, or simply admire the landscape.
The drive from Lucca to Vicopisano is about 25 km and takes around 40 minutes, but there is no rush. You can leave straight at 10 am and enjoy detours through one village such as Colle di Compito or Orentano. After lunch, you can also choose a different route for the return drive and continue exploring.
Vicopisano: History, Towers, and Olive Oil
You should arrive in Vicopisano by 11:30 am, where you will meet our guide for a short and engaging walking tour of this medieval village. Walking through its narrow streets, you will admire the ancient fortress walls and the impressive military tower designed by Brunelleschi, a true hidden gem of Tuscany. The adventure continues at a nearby family-run farm, where tradition and passion come together. Here, extra virgin olive oil, wine, and kiwi-based products are produced. You will visit the oil mill and learn how high-quality extra virgin olive oil is made, from the olive tree to the bottle.
A guided tasting of at least five different olive oils follows, helping you discover different aromas and flavors. Then, it's time to relax and enjoy a full Tuscan lunch with a traditional soup, a selection of crostini, and local cold cuts. For those who are not driving afterward, the farm's own wine will be served. The meal ends on a sweet note with a dessert made with their unique kiwi jam.
For confident drivers, on the way back, we suggest to drive to Buti, charming village on the mountain, with great views. Then continue on the road toward Monte Serra that offers incredible panoramic views over Pisa, the coast, and the Arno valley.
A perfect mix of driving, discovery, flavors, and freedom!
Take a journey into the 60s for a timeless experience that combines classic Italian style with the unique beauty that only the Tuscan countryside can offer. Step on board our vintage Fiat 500 cars, travel back in time, enjoy great food and olive oils, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
This is a list of specialties that you are likely to sample as part of the program of this class. Please, note that the specialties of the menu prepared at the class may vary according to the season and the availability of the products in the day of the class.
The visit to the oil mill of Vicopisano ends at a table where lunch starts with a guided tasting of many kinds of olive oils scented with herbs, fruits and vegetables paired with plain rice for a perfect perception of the different tastes.
A plate of mixed bruschettas, topped with fresh tomatoes, cheese and sausage, arucola and lemon juice or simply extra virgin olive oil. Bruschettas are very common appetizers in all Italy and in Tuscany they are commonly called crostini. You can top grilled bread with almost anything that comes to your mind and served varied and […]
A plate of local prosciutto, salami and pecorino cheese is a typical appetizer in the Tuscan cooking tradition. A plate of mixed cold meats and cheese can often accompany a guided tasting of Tuscan wines.
Pecorino cheese is the most famous cheese from Tuscany. It derives from sheep milk, from which the name comes: in Italian sheep is “pecora”. It can be fresh or long-aged and its taste can vary from mild to very sharp.
Zuppa alla frantoiana means vegetable soup of the olive oil maker. It is a delicious soup made of sauted vegetables like carrots, potatoes, beans, kale and cabbage on which the final touch is freshly squeezed extra virgin olive oil. It was traditionally the soup that authentic oil mills in Tuscany were preparing for their guests […]
Tuscan white wines are often based on a typical grape called Vermentino, which provides strong minerality and freshness to the wines made with it. The area of San Gimignano provides the one and only white wine DOCG in Tuscany: Vernaccia. Other very common grapes for white wines in Tuscany are Trebbiano and Malvasia.
The Tuscan soil provides a wide variety of red wines, from easy-to-drink young table wines to full-body and robust riservas. Tuscan red wines are often based on Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo or Colorino grapes and sometimes on international grapes like Merlot, Cabernet or Syrah. The most curious experiements are recently involving Alicante and Tempranillo!
The most common coffee ordered at Italian bars is espresso. Its quantity is very small and it is supposed to be nicely creamy on the top. Many Italians sip it quickly while standing at a bar, so not sitting or longly debating around it.

Moira
Pisa city tour guide & and tour leader at Arianna & Friends'
Ciao a tutti! My name is Moira, and I originally come from the north-west of Italy, from the city of Turin. I moved to Tuscany in 2012, immediately falling in love with the culture, the arts and history, the food, and of course, my favourite!, the wines of this beautiful region.
I started working with Arianna & Friends back in 2013 as an assistant at the Tourist Information Office of a small hilltop village, where our office was initially located. Later, I obtained my city guide license, and today I am the city tour guide on the team for the main towns of Pisa, Volterra, and San Miniato, as well as for some of our less famous tiny villages, which hide many secrets and have such a loooong history, such as Lari, Lajatico, and Peccioli.
I also obtained a license as an official truffle hunter, but I’m still mainly a truffle eater! My enthusiasm for learning new things never stops. I even learned how to become a professional olive tree pruner. When I’m not on tour, walking around our amazing places talking about art, culture, and history, or discovering local specialties together with our guests, you’ll find me in the office, taking care of bookings and reservations. I specialize in organizing active and fun weekends for groups of girlfriends.
I really hope to meet you soon to show you around our beautiful land, and since I come from another region, I can also reveal some secrets that Tuscan people will never confess!!

My name is Cristiano, and I live just outside the walls of Pisa, not far from the Leaning Tower. When I was a child, I lived in Mexico with my family, where I attended an international school in English. I graduated from a linguistic high school and speak English, Spanish, and French. I also worked for many years as a travel agent and managed tourist reception activities in Morocco.
Since 2024, I have been part of the Arianna & Friends team. Passionate about traveling the world, I love meeting new people and exchanging experiences and stories with them. I’ve been told I am a very charming and fun person, and many of the cooking classes where I act as the story-teller end with me singing traditional Italian songs alongside the chef, and sometimes even with our guests! I’m energetic, love sharing entertaining stories, and enjoy laughing with our guests while introducing them to Tuscan recipes, culture, and lifestyle.
My role here also includes being a tour leader for e-bike and Vespa tours, and my favorite activity to lead, beyond cooking classes, is the hands-on cheese-making experience
In my free time, I play tennis, love traveling to Asia, and enjoy hiking through the Tuscan hills with my friends and my dog, Ciccio.
I look forward to welcoming you in Tuscany and sharing unforgettable moments together!
