PRIVATE CULINARY EXPERIENCE AT RITA’S FARM
Join us for a hands-on cooking class in the heart of Tuscany. Learn to make the best Italian pizza, the famous Tuscan chickpea pie called ‘cecina’, and the iconic traditional tiramisù. Using fresh, local ingredients, you’ll discover the secrets of Italian cuisine and create delicious meals to enjoy with friends and family!
Rita’s farm in the countryside
Our My Tuscan Kitchen cooking school at Rita’s Farm is the perfect setting where to organize a cooking class for your family or group of friends. Located right in the heart of Tuscany with stunning views of the rolling hills, this warm and inviting farm offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
At the farm, you’ll meet a local chef and an English-speaking storyteller who will be available to answer your questions and share fascinating anecdotes about Tuscan culture and cuisine. The experience starts with a visit to the farm and with a quick historical framework to let you understand much about the origins of our cuisine.
The cooking experience
Following your visit to the farm, you’ll enter the cooking school and embark on your authentic culinary adventure. The class begins with the preparation of the pizza dough and the batter for the traditional Tuscan ‘cecina’. Cecina is a thin, savory chickpea pie, a traditional specialty of Pisa and the coastal areas of Tuscany. It is often served alongside focaccia.
While waiting for the dough to raise you also prepare one the most typical Tuscan dessert: the traditional tiramisù with chocolate anche coffee.
The Pizza and cecina baking
Weather permitting, we will use the 200-year-old wood-fired oven to begin baking. We’ll start by preparing a focaccia to test the oven’s heat, then everyone will be invited to bake their own personal pizza under the guidance of our chef.
After your cooking class you will sit at the table enjoying the fruits of your labor. You will taste your pizzas, cecina and finally the tiramisù. Everything will be paired with unlimited white and red wines from Rita’s farm
This is a list of specialties that you are likely to sample as part of the program of this class. Please, note that the specialties of the menu prepared at the class may vary according to the season and the availability of the products in the day of the class.
In our cooking class we like telling you a lot about Tuscan farms and farmers' cooking traditions, introducing you to Tuscan people with their personal stories, careers and characters.
You will have one of our guides as a language assistants and coordinator with you during the whole class. Please, see below all the guides and language assistants who can be with you.
During this experience you will also meet one of our Tuscan cooks who give you the cooking class. Please, see below which cooks you are likely to encounter.
