An authentic family-run oil mill
Our beautiful day tour dedicated to Tuscan culture starts at an authentic, family-run olive oil mill. This is where local farmers bring their olives during the harvest season to extract extra virgin olive oil.
Our guide will give you a clear and interesting introduction to the world of olive oil, from how olive trees are cultivated to how oil is extracted from the olives. Then you will enter the mill to see the machinery and the technology used for production.
One of the most special moments of the visit is learning how to taste a real extra virgin olive oil and how to recognize the big difference between genuine and commercial olive oils. You will enjoy a fun blind olive oil tasting, followed by a full lunch with local specialties prepared with organic ingredients.
You will taste several olive oils produced at the mill, including flavored ones with garlic, lemon, orange, and pepper, each paired with matching food.
The most beautiful Etruscan town
The tour continues to the ancient town of Volterra, famous worldwide for its beautiful historical center. This town is the result of more than 3,000 years of history, from the Etruscans and Romans to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
With our knowledgeable guide, you will walk through charming squares, enter a magnificent cathedral (entrance ticket to be paid on site), and visit a traditional workshop where alabaster, one of Volterra's typical products, is still handcrafted as it was centuries ago. You will also see the remains of the Roman baths and theater, and the only Etruscan gate still almost intact.
The guided visit is a pleasant walk through the town. You will be amazed by the beauty of the buildings and enjoy breathtaking views from the town walls, overlooking gentle hills and mountains all the way to the sea.
You will also have some free time to shop, or to enjoy a local gelato or some artisan chocolate.
Please note: upon request, we are happy to adjust the schedule and visit Volterra first, followed by the olive oil mill and lunch.

The destinations reached during this activity are in the Tuscan countryside, in areas off the beaten track that cannot be reached by public transport. We highly recommend renting a car or a scooter in order to reach them. As an alternative, we can offer a valued service by chauffeured car, van or minibus. Any cost of transportation is to be added to the rates displayed on the rate table of this page.
