The most beautiful Etruscan town
Volterra, what a treasure! A hilltop town with almost 3000 years of history.
Volterra has been used as the setting for many historical movies because of its fascinating atmosphere, which brings you back to the Middle Ages or the pre-Renaissance period.
Volterra is also the most important town in Tuscany for learning about the Etruscan community, a population that first settled into the lands that today we call Tuscany, centuries before the Romans arrived. Our guide will take you around in a 2-hour stroll among tiny lanes and stunning views.You will also enjoy some free time for shopping in the center and for a good coffee.
You will have a last stop to see the rests of the most ancient city walls of Volterra, that were built by the Etruscans in the IV century b.C.
An authentic family run winery
After the visit to Volterra, we will move to a family run winery with a spectacular view over the Pisan hills for wine tasting and lunch. At the winery, Claudia, the owner and wine maker, will open her cellar and will share her wine expertise with us. At the end of the visit we will sit at the table in their panoramic tasting room and we will taste their whole gamma of wines accompained by a delicious Tuscan lunch!

This tour takes place in the the old town and the rural area of Volterra, in central Tuscany, about 20 km from Selvatelle, San Gimignano and Montaione.

The destinations reached during this activity are in the Tuscan countryside, in areas off the beaten track that cannot be reached by public transport. We highly recommend renting a car or a scooter in order to reach them. As an alternative, we can offer a valued service by chauffeured car, van or minibus. Any cost of transportation is to be added to the rates displayed on the rate table of this page.
